山中漆器は、石川県加賀市山中温泉地区で約400年以上にわたり受け継がれてきた、日本を代表する伝統工芸の一つです。
最大の特徴は、木材を美しく削り出す「木地挽き」の高度な技術と、職人が一つひとつ丁寧に仕上げる漆塗りにあります。滑らかな手触りや美しい木目、丈夫で使いやすい品質は、長年にわたり多くの人々に愛されてきました。
伝統の技を守りながらも、現代の暮らしやライフスタイルに合わせたデザインや素材を積極的に取り入れ、日常使いの器から贈答品、インテリアまで幅広く展開されています。山中漆器は、日本のものづくりの精神と、受け継がれてきた職人の技術を未来へつなぐ、価値ある工芸品として国内外で高く評価されています。
Yamanaka lacquerware is one of Japan’s most distinguished traditional crafts, with a history spanning more than 400 years in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
It is especially renowned for its masterful woodturning techniques, which bring out the natural beauty of wood, and the meticulous lacquer finishing applied by skilled artisans. Its smooth texture, beautiful wood grain, and durability have made it a cherished part of everyday life for generations.

石川県加賀市山中温泉で山中漆器の原型となる木製木地の製造から創業し、1970年代からはプラスチック成形による素地を生かした山中漆器製造卸業として会社を設立。
以後テーブルウェアからインテリアアイテムを開発し全国へ販売を拡大。
近年はインテリアアイテムをメインに製造し、フォトフレーム、ティッシュボックス、インテリアクロックなど他社にはないアイテムを製造。
フォトフレームにはオリジナル曲をオルゴール用に編曲して組入れて学校の卒業記念として利用されています。
全国一の製造販売額を誇る山中漆器ではあるがその認知度は決して高くない状況を憂い、2022年石川県加賀市山中温泉の美しい景色をモチーフとしたブランド「iroikoi」を企画商品化し、山中温泉と山中漆器の観光と伝統産業を融合したプロダクトを販売開始。
漆器という堅苦しいイメージを変える斬新な色彩を取り入れ、吹付塗装職人の変わらぬ技術力とプラスチック素地の進化を生かして、現代の生活にマッチした食洗機対応のプロダクトを開発。
漆器を知らない世代にも、気軽におしゃれに使える、これまでになかった山中漆器を提供している。
Our business began in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, producing wooden bases for Yamanaka lacquerware. In the 1970s, we established the company as a manufacturer and wholesaler of Yamanaka lacquerware using molded plastic bases.
Since then, we have developed products ranging from tableware to interior accessories and expanded our sales nationwide.
In recent years, we have focused primarily on interior accessories, creating unique products such as photo frames, tissue boxes, and decorative clocks.
Our photo frames incorporate music boxes that play original songs specially arranged for music-box performance. These frames are used by schools as graduation keepsakes.
Although Yamanaka is Japan’s leading lacquerware-producing region in terms of production and sales value, awareness of Yamanaka lacquerware remains relatively low. Seeking to change this, in 2022 we developed and launched “iroikoi,” a brand inspired by the beautiful scenery of Yamanaka Onsen in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The brand brings together local tourism and traditional craftsmanship through its products.
With bold, fresh colors, we challenge the formal image traditionally associated with lacquerware. Combining the enduring expertise of our spray-painting artisans with advances in plastic bases, we have developed dishwasher-safe products suited to modern living. The result is a new kind of Yamanaka lacquerware—stylish, easy to use, and accessible even to generations unfamiliar with the craft.
